Customer Reviews Garmin nüvi 885T 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with MSN Direct ServiceFrom Garmin

Where are the POIs??? I preordered this for $700. I have had it a little over a month, and it works great. If you want fun voices and vehicles, Garmin.com has some for free. Now enough with the OK, on to the bad... The problem is it has almost no points of interest. My cheap 5 year old Garmin has tons of POIs, but this doesn't even have a fraction. Why did I pay all that money for a great GPS if it can't find the places I want to go? I think I will sned it back because great features don't make up for practical functionality.
Toy With Hours of Enjoyment I received my new Nuvi on a Friday night so I had the weekend to play with it. What I found was that it had a ton of things on it. The sudoko game kept me busy for hours many, many times. I became addicted. I found that the screen reacts slowly from time to time - almost like its locking up. Some times, I have to re-start it either by holding the power switch, or removing the battery. I activated the MSN direct 3 month trial the day after I received the unit. I think this could be an extremely handy tool if you live somewhere that has full capabilities. I live in Canada, so about all it tells me is the weather. I'm hoping to drive south in a few weeks, and then I should know for sure its true capability. The bluetooth is awesome. It pulls in my contact list from my cell phone, making it much easier to call people, because you can actually read the screen when you're driving. I also really like the voice activation. It takes some getting used to, and like almost anything with voice activation, it has its bumps. It doesn't pick up your voice as well when you are driving, requiring that you repeat yourself. Part of that, is getting the timing right. You have to wait for the little green icon to come up on the right hand corner. That is when the unit is listening. If the icon is red, it cannot hear you. I get caught on the mis-timing a lot. I still have trouble finding where everything is because its different from where things were located with my Nuvi 350 that I had. For example, if you want to spell the name of the place you want to go, its on another menu (under points of interest). One thing I have noticed with its directions, it seems to like to take you on a route whereby the destination is on your right hand side. That route is not neccessarily your most direct route. I think it does that because so many places have the centre curb that doesn't allow you to turn left - especially in The US. I find that the battery power does not last nearly as long as my 350 did. All in all, I love this unit and all its capabilities. I am glad I waited til the new model came out.
I love everything about this GPS This is the first time I write a review on amazon and thats because I very much loved this GPS. This GPS is excellent in every way... I have no problems with it at all... got free update for the newest version of the map and firmware... The sound is fairly loud the voice recognition works great even with my English accent as English is my 2nd language... Buy It You Will Not Regret also buy the (Garmin Portable Friction Dashboard Mount) Instant of the windshield mount that comes with it the Friction Mount is much better.
